Magic Mushrooms ???

The pastures are filled with mushrooms. Are these 'magic' mushrooms? (They are in the sense that they appear suddenly.) What kind of mushrooms are these & are they poisonous? Are they harmful to cattle or horses? Is the livestock going on a spirit journey without my knowledge? Where is C when I need her?! I'd better start googling...

Fall is in the air...

Old timers say that the number of mornings blanketed by fog during the month of August equals the number of snow days for the coming winter. Judging by our numerous morning fogs this past month, a horrible winter must be in store. I hope the 'old timers' are wrong.

Winter feeding

When temperatures drop, it is even more important to make sure the cattle and horses have enough food. I normally try to feed in the evenings so that the animals bodies will be metabolizing their food during the night - thus generating more body heat.

Life on the Farm

Ahh, for the idyllic life of the farm...
