Bulls babysit
Cows are notorious babysitters. It's not uncommon to see one or two cows with almost all the calves gathered around. They seem to take turns watching each other's babies so that they in turn can go forage unencumbered. But sometimes Papa takes over & gives the Moms a break--what a guy!

Could this be known as a Frank Martin?
Nawww, he's NOT a babysitter...he would probably eat his young.
(You clever girl!)
That's some big hunk o' animal flesh!
Cate and I had the same reaction to this photo: We both said "All in the Family!!"" The Edith and Archie Bunker of the bovine world!
They are charming. Can you speak cow? What is the mom saying?
Actually, that is NOT the mom. Papa is babysitting so Mom can go out with the girls for lunch. Mom is a black cow with some white on her face (a black baldie as they are called, baldie meaning bald face (white): Origin Middle English: probably from a base meaning white patch, whence the archaic sense marked or streaked with white). The red cow just happened to be passing by. She may be saying that she'd like to be a California cow & to 'pick me'.
