Twins?

If you think you're seeing double, just look a little closer. These two Spotted Saddle Horses are full brothers. Jim, on the left, is a three year old while Dan is a year younger. It's hard to tell from this angle, but Dan (the 2 yr. old) is actually a couple of inches taller than older brother, Jim.

Curious minds want to know how you get them spotted like that.

I don't.

Their father is homozygous for spots, which means that even though he's bred to a solid color mare, ALL his offspring will be spotted. With this particular stallion, all his offspring have also been black & white (his color) with the exception of one grey/white foal. So, no matter that a mare is solid palomino, bay, buckskin, chestnut, etc., the resulting foal is spotted black/white.

You should write a book.
